Example College Admission Questions
|
The college admissions essay is an important part of the application package. This essay is usually based on a question or questions asked. Some questions are general while others are more specific based on your preferred area of study. General questions can be the most difficult for some students because they leave so much room for interpretation. The first type of question is one that asks you why you want to attend that particular school. When writing on this type of question you may want to talk about things like family history, local pride or career goals that relate to the school you are applying to.
Another type of question relates to you in general. An example might be something like, 'What do you feel are your strengths and weaknesses, and why?" This question gives you a chance to highlight your strong points, achievements and accomplishments. The key is to be honest about your weaknesses while making your strengths seem much more significant. Then there are questions like 'What is your most significant childhood memory and why," or "What living or dead person would you most like to meet and why.' You can find many more examples of essay questions on the Internet.
There are lots of websites devoted to the college application process and the admissions essay. You may also want to read a few books about writing a great admissions essay. You may find examples in these books or at least get an idea about the types of questions you may be asked. If you are applying to graduate school you may be asked more specific questions that relate directly to your field of study and future career goals. You may be asked to answer one question, or more than one.
Example college admission questions can be helpful for students but aren't going to take the work out of writing your admissions essay. Writing an essay takes creativity and skill. You may have to write multiple essays before you feel good about your first draft. Always proofread your essay several times because there may be mistakes you've missed the first time or areas you decide need changing. Use spell check as misspelled words can ruin an essay that would otherwise be excellent. Your essay is the first impression a college will get of you, so take your time and make sure your paper is the very best it can be.
